They are always supportive of any sickle cell awareness event that I am involved in. I personally elected them honorary members of the sickle cell community. Love them to pieces:)

Pictured to my left in the pretty pink shirt is my friend (Davina Daniels).
Davina has sickle cell disease and finding blood for her is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. She has a very rare blood type. It is important for people to donate blood, especially for folks like Davina. When she needs blood the blood center usually has to put out a press release and create a media frenzy in order to get folks donating to try to find a match for her. Being that some blood types have DNA that is only found in a match by someone else from their cultural background. This means if you are African-American you may just be able to accept a blood match from another person who is African American. Therefore, if the donations from minorities are not so many to choose from than people like Davina who need someone from her cultural background are left out in the cold when they need to find someone who they can accept blood from. Bottom line, please donate blood! One unit of blood can save up to 3 lives!
